A Northern Ireland international, Tommy began his playing career for Irish League club Linfield before moving to Newcastle United in 1987. Here he made 73 first team appearances prior to signing for Nottingham Forest in 1993. Despite injury problems and personal tragedy, Tommy has had an outstanding career earning 31 caps for Northern Ireland, three of them as Captain.
