Willie John McBride MBE.
During an international career lasting from 1962 to 1975, the gentle giant known as Willie John McBride played a record 17 tests for the British Lions and was capped 63 times (12 of them as Captain), for Ireland. After retiring Willie-John coached the Ulster and Ireland teams and was the manager of the 1983 Lions tour to New Zealand. Willie-John’s motto is Tenax propositi – firm of purpose, sticking to the job.
