Catharine Hoey, more famously known as Kate Hoey has always been interested in sport and was once Northern Ireland High Jump Champion. She has worked with a number of football clubs as educational advisor and was appointed Minister for Sport in 1999, a position she held until 2001. Kate Hoey has been the Labour Member of Parliament for Vauxhall, South London since a by-election in 1989.
