Hi again,

Just finished my last race there. My 100 free, I went 52.02 which was .6 off my PB. I was 20th... I think! I was out pretty much on target pace. but on the way back I was really hurting and fell off that bit at the end. But again I𔄂m pretty happy with all my swims, even tho I did no PB’s i am still pretty much on top of them and by knowing I am not feeling as good as i can in the water. Hopefully European Juniors can bring some really fast times!!

There is a closing ceremony tomorrow night, not sure about al the details but it should be pretty good seeing as it is a high standard meet!

Anyway better go get food now!

Hi,

200 freestyle went ok. I was .7 off my pb but it was a good solid swim as for the 1st summer meet and as I am targeting European Juniors at the end of the month. I was 23rd in it

I had the 50 free today. There was a 3 way swim off for the semi finals and I was in it. I made it to the semi finals tonight and was .02 off my pb so again im having good solid swims. Plus it put me 16th in the world juniors champs!!! which is pretty cool!

Just the whole experience of the whole gala and complex is really good, I'm just enjoying myself and relaxing into my races! in a good way tho!! haha

Thanks,

Conor

1st July 2008

Hi Conor here.

Sorry I haven't emailed before now, just getting settled into it the last few days. The competition starts tomorrow but I am not swimming anything, which is good as I can get a feel for the standard.

Flights here were a bit crazy, we got delayed in Dublin which meant we missed our flight from Chicago to Moterrey so we ended up staying a night in Dallas which was ok as it meant we got a rest between flights. That was fine then we got taxi’s to the hotel, which ended up being the wrong one... so we finally got the right one and got our rooms. Im with Michael Dawson of Ards which is pretty good as we both get on well. The hotel is lets say... very Mexican!! Food isnt what we are all used to, but its ok then we went to the pool and on the way back our taxi got lost... so the 5min taxi ride turned out to be 1 hour...

All pretty crazy stuff but I have laughed it out and it hasn't affected me in anyway!! I think that would be because of the good things, the pool is like nothing I've ever seen before, the viewing gallery and the whole layout of the stadium is amazing. The final touches are being made today with the score boards and the underwater cameras which is pretty cool too! I saw a draft programme yesterday and in order for me to make the final I am going to need a new Irish senior record in my 100 and 200 which is a big ask, but one which is doable and one that I am determined to do! but after all I'm am going to enjoy the expérience and do the best I can.

ok dinner now so i'll keep you up to date whenever I can.

Conor
