What is Clubmark?
Clubmark NI is a programme designed to support junior sports clubs to continue to develop in order to meet the demands of the 21st century. Clubmark NI offer a range of support in the form of sports development officers, resource packs, online resources all based around a common framework a minimum operating standards for sport clubs. Clubs who are able to demonstrate that they meet all of the Clubmark NI criteria will be accredited as a Clubmark NI accredited club. The Clubmark NI programme and the associated endorsed club accreditation schemes provide a consistent mark of quality which allows parents/carers and participants alike to identify clubs who have achieved minimum standards of quality in the areas of Effective Management, Quality Coaching and Competition and Safety in Sport.
What are the benefits to your club?
- There are several benefits to Clubmark as well as being recognised as one of the best run clubs in the area.
- Clubs achieving Clubmark NI accreditation through the Newtownabbey and Antrim Borough Council Clubmark NI scheme will receive the following recognition:
- Presentation of a Clubmark NI framed certificate at a recognition ceremony.
- Mentioned on the council website and in the local media
- Governing body notified of the club’s achievement. Newtownabbey and Antrim Borough Council Clubmark NI will also provide the appropriate information to Sport Northern Ireland to allow the club to be recognised as a quality club on the Clubmark NI webpage. Sport Northern Ireland will include accredited clubs on their database of Northern Ireland quality junior sports clubs.
- Clubmark NI accreditation will also benefit the club through Newtownabbey’s assistance sport grant programme
How does Clubmark work in Newtownabbey?
The Clubmark NI programme is delivered by Newtownabbey Borough Council Sport Development personnel and will assist your club to develop within the Clubmark NI programme and will inform you of all the other support tools available such as their coach education workshops.

Incentives
Upon successful accreditation through one of the Clubmark NI endorsed schemes, Sport Northern Ireland will provide accredited clubs with the following:
- One free Sport Northern Ireland Coach Development & Education workshop for a group of up to 20 coaches. Sport Northern Ireland will deploy a Coach Educator to the club to deliver a coach development workshop of the club’s choice from the range detailed below. These workshops normally retail between £220 and £340.
- A framed Clubmark NI Certificate will be presented to the club upon accreditation and the club will be invited to a presentation event.
- A large (3m x 1.5m) ‘Clubmark NI Accredited Club’ will be provided to the club to promote their status as a Clubmark NI accredited club.
- The Clubmark NI logo will be made available to all Clubmark NI accredited clubs in an electronic format to allow clubs to add this to websites, letter heads or other club materials.
- All accredited clubs will be listed on the Sport Northern Ireland Clubmark NI webpage as a Clubmark NI accredited club.
- Other ‘ad-hoc’ benefits if and when opportunities arise.
