With effect from the 3rd October 2011 a birth, still-birth or death that occurred in Northern Ireland can be registered in any registration office in Northern Ireland.
Restriction To Registration Service: Wed 1st – Tues 7th April 2015
The General Registrar Office (GRO) has advised they are due to upgrade their computer system to facilitate the amalgamation of local authorities on 1st April and as a consequence the registration service in both Antrim and Newtownabbey will be restricted from Wednesday 1st April – Tuesday 7th April.
Both registration offices will only open for the manual registration of deaths on Wednesday 1st and Thursday 2nd April to facilitate burials or cremations.
The registration of births and marriages will not be possible on these days.
Both registration offices will be closed from 3rd April to 7th April (inclusive) and will reopen on Wednesday 8th April.

The Registration of Births, Deaths, Marriages and Civil Partnerships Office for the Newtownabbey District is located just inside the main entrance of Mossley Mill, Newtownabbey.

Certified Copies of Births, Stillbirths & Deaths registered in Newtownabbey since 1997, Marriages and Civil Partnerships from 2004 onwards may be obtained from this office.
Births, Stillbirths, Deaths and Marriages which were registered in Northern Ireland before these times can be obtained from the, Oxford House 49/55 Chichester Street Belfast BT1 4UY.
