New Black Kerbie Box

From March 2012 the Council will be introducing changes to the way recycled waste is collected from households throughout the Borough.

Blue bins are to be removed and replaced by an additional kerbside box which will be collected weekly. The new black kerbie box will be collected on the same day as the current red kerbie box.

In addition to increasing recycling capacity, residents will now be able to recycle more at their door, with additional items being collected in the black kerbie box. This includes paper, mixed plastics (yoghurt pots, butter tubs etc) and Tetra Paks (juice cartons). Recycling these new waste streams will help us increase the volume of waste we recycle, as well as reducing the volumes of waste sent to landfill.

Anyone who may experience difficulties bringing their kerbie boxes to the roadside can request the ‘assisted lift’ service or a trolley.

The rollout of this new service will happen from March and residents will receive further information regarding the changes prior to it taking place in their area.
