Cycling/Bike Hire

The Newtownabbey Way project is a 9 mile route starting from Corrs Corner, linking the new Council Offices at Mossley Mill and then to Monkstown, Jordanstown, Whiteabbey, Whitehouse, Rathcoole, and the Valley Park. The new coastal path along the North Foreshore of Belfast Lough links Hazelbank Park to Dargan Road in Belfast. The route forms part of the Lagan and Lough Cycle route. Cycle Path Conduct

Paths are segregated by a white line or by the provision of different surfaces and cyclists must ride on the correct side. Where paths are shared, cyclists must give way to pedestrians and disabled users, slow down and be prepared to stop. Cyclists must be allowed to freely pass. It is illegal for cyclists to cycle on the footway (a path next to the road) unless signs show shared use is allowed.

All vehicular traffic is prohibited from using the paths except pedal cycles and wheelchairs.

Suggested Cycle Routes:

The award winning Lagan and Lough Cycle Way is a 21 mile, level, mostly traffic free cycle ride or walk connecting Lisburn, Belfast and Jordanstown. The route is suitable for novice and family cyclists of all ages and abilities and passes along the waterside environment of the Lagan Towpath and Belfast Lough.
