The Mayor is joined by Pavarotti in Jordanstown’s Loughshore Park to promote Live Classics in the Park.

An extra special guest caused a bit of a stir this week in Jordanstown’s Loughshore Park, when he joined the Mayor to promote this year’s ‘Live Classics in the Park’ taking place on Sunday 16 August.  The event promises to be a spectacular evening of open-air entertainment, providing a grand finale to the Shoreline Festival.

The outstanding line-up will feature world acclaimed Norah King (Soprano), Carthaigh Quill (Tenor) and Arwel Huw Morgan (Bass and Compere), accompanied by renowned pianist Ingrid Surgenor.

Lisa O’Kane, who has organised the event, explains:

“As last year’s event showed, opera and classical music can be enjoyed by all.  The programme is designed to appeal to both fans of the opera and to those who are just curious, with the programme including popular opera and classical songs from Puccini, Lehar, Gershwin, Verdi, Mozart and Ivor Novello.”

Admission is free and music commences at 7.30pm, concluding with a fireworks extravaganza on the lough shore. A Gourmet Food Market will be available or, if you prefer why not pack a picnic, but remember that glass containers and bottles are not permitted. So, dress for the weather and enjoy a night to remember!

Free park and ride is available from Hazelbank Park, Northern Regional College and the University of Ulster. For further informationvisit www.newtownabbey.gov.uk/shoreline, or telephone Lisa O’Kane, Economic Development Manager, 028 9034 0000.
