The popular P & O Triathlon will be held this year on Sunday 11 September at the Valley Leisure Centre, Newtownabbey. The event is once again expected to attract both seasoned athletes and keen novices from all over the province (and beyond) to what is reckoned to be one of the most enjoyable and challenging events on the racing calendar.

There will be no junior section this year, but with even more prizes on offer for recreational as well as elite athletes, entry numbers are expected to break all previous records.

For the 20th consecutive year the event, which is organised by Newtownabbey Borough Council, will test the skill and stamina of each participant as they compete in the half-mile swim (30 lengths of the pool) followed immediately by a 20km cycle ride and finishing with a 5km run.

Sponsor, P&O Irish Sea, supplies the prizes for the winning male and female competitors in each category and all competitors will receive a commemorative t-shirt.
