Entertainment for Everyone at the 2008 Ballyclare May Fair

This weekend sees the 2008 Ballyclare May Fair kick off and the action packed programme is certain to keep the whole family entertained. This year’s fair will have the theme of the Magnificent Seven and have a special guest appearance from horse riders from Newtownabbey’s sister city, Gilbert, Arizona. 
 
Friday 16th sees the Mayfair and King and Queen Crowning Cabaret, sponsored by ASDA. For the first time ever the Mayfair Queen will be joined by a King and the fun kicks off at 8pm in Ballyclare Comrades Club, presented by Cool FM’s Paul Kennedy. 
 
A family fun day takes place on Saturday 17th at Sixmile Leisure Centre, between 1 - 5:45pm. The centre will be a hub of activity and between 1-4pm when there will be face painters, bouncy assault course, trampolining, balloon modelling and an outside climbing wall.   A magic show will take place between 2.15-3.pm. For the adults there will be a Body Pump class and ladies circuits in the Easyline studio between 4-5pm and free use of the Zest Fitness Suite, 4--5.45pm – strictly over 16’s.  While all activities are free of charge, booking is required for some events so please contact the centre on Tel: 028 9334 1818. 
 
The popular continental market returns to the town centre from Monday 19 – Wednesday 21. The festivities will be officially launched by the Mayor on Tuesday 20 and the ever popular Hugo Duncan will be in town with the big yellow bus to host his BBC radio show between 1:30–3pm. 
 
Those looking a physical challenge should put their talents to the test at “It’s a Knock Out”, running 7-9pm in Dixon Park. To enter a team contact Michelle McGuigan Tel: 07846 002772. And table quiz lovers should not miss the Mayfair table quiz on Friday 23rd at Linfield Club – booking is essential for this popular event so contact Valerie Jenkins on 028 9334 0065.
 
The Mayor’s parade takes place at 1pm on Saturday 24th so make sure you come along to be entertained and support all those taking part. The day is action packed with many events taking place across town, ending with an Elvis Spectacular from 7-10pm at the Town Hall Car Park. The 2008 Mayfair will go out with a bang at the fireworks extravaganza at Sixmile Leisure Centre car park at 10pm.
