Nutty Krust Fun Week
Posted:10 September 2007

The end of August saw the second and last Nutty Krust Fun Week to be run in Newtownabbey.  It was held on the grass pitches at the Valley Leisure Centre and eighty Boys and girls from across the borough turned out to enjoy the fun, learn new skills and take part in football based competitions.

Jordan McCune was nominated as the Umbro Player of the Week and received his award from Newtownabbey Borough Council’s Deputy Mayor, Alderman Victor Robinson, who paid a special visit to hand out the Umbro Fun Packs and certificates at the end of the week.

Speaking about the ‘Nutty Krust Fun Week’, Newtownabbey Borough Council's IFA Grassroots Football Development Officer, Steven Livingstone said:

It was great to see so many children from Newtownabbey turning up to be involved in the football fun week.  Both the coaches and myself were really impressed by the enthusiasm, behaviour and technical level of the children who took part.  It was a thoroughly enjoyable week by everyone involved.  A big thanks to the coaching team of Jonathan Michael, Gary Haveron, Ruairi McClean, Andy Boyd and Johnny Montgomery who worked so hard all summer to ensure each child had an enjoyable time.
