The new play area at Rushpark will be officially opened this week by the Mayor of Newtownabbey, Alderman Victor Robinson. The new and improved play area offers residents a better facility in the centre of Rushpark.
With the official opening taking place on 3 October, the new play area is a large improvement on the previous facility, providing a greater range and variety of play equipment for children in the local area. The improvements, which are the result of a £77,000 investment, have been ongoing over the summer and the finished play area is a welcome addition to the Ruskpark area.
The Mayor of Newtownabbey, Alderman Victor Robinson says
"The new play area in Rushpark has been eagerly anticipated by local residents over the last few months. I am delighted to officially open the play area which brings a fun and exciting range of play equipment for local children to enjoy! In the current economic climate, play parks such as this are a fantastic, free way for children to get outdoors and have some fun!"
Play areas such as the new one at Rushpark show Newtownabbey Borough Council’s continued commitment to investing in the provision of modern, high quality play facilities in the Borough, whilst ensuring optimum value for money. The investment for the new play area was funded through the sale of the old Rushpark Community Centre site earlier in the year, with the previous site purchased to facilitate social housing in the area.
