The Major Sinclair Memorial Pipe Band took advantage of the once in a lifetime opportunity to take part in the largest closing cultural event of the London 2012 Festival. The Bandstand Marathon took place at Jordanstown Loughshore Park on Sunday 9th September from 1pm until 5pm.
The crowd were warmed up by Pipe Major John Fittis and his two sons for the first half of the afternoon and the full band performed for the remainder of the event. A large crowd of spectators gathered in the park to be entertained by the band and take part in this fantastic cultural event.
Jenni Coulter, Business Development Officer (Arts & Culture) at Newtownabbey Borough Council said:
"The bandstand marathon was a great event to host and it was a huge honour to be part of a London 2012 cultural closing ceremony of this scale. I would like to thank the Major Sinclair Memorial Pipe Band, particularly John Fittis and his two sons who entertained the crowd all afternoon."
