The power of sport to unite and build relations locally will be the focus of an evening on Tuesday 25th September hosted by Trevor Ringland, MBE and Michael Boyd of the IFA, two leading local figures in the promotion of peace building through sport. ‘Inclusion Through Sport’ will be held at Massereene Golf Club, Antrim from 6-8.30pm and sports clubs from Carrickfergus, Antrim and Newtownabbey areas are invited to learn about using sport to build peace.
Rugby Star Trevor Ringland, MBE will be joined by Michael Boyd of the IFA to address how sport can make a difference to promoting good relations locally and provide examples of good practice initiatives that will inspire and motivate more sports groups to engage in good relations and peace building work. There will also be input from local sports projects who will share their experiences with participants.
The seminar is one of a series of events being organised by the CAN Peace III Partnership as part of the Bridging Our Community Gap Programme which is being delivered by Newtownabbey Borough Council and is funded by the EU Programme for Peace and Reconciliation (PEACE III), managed by the Special EU Programmes Body.
The event is free of charge but booking is required to secure a place. Please contact Maria Curran on 028 90381226, e-mail: maria@locusmgt.com by Friday 21 September 2012. Further information on the event can be obtained at www.canpeace3.org
