The Bandstand Marathon with four hours of live music and entertainment for all the family is taking place at over 500 locations across the UK, as part of the closing celebrations for London 2012. Locally, Jordanstown Loughshore Park will be the Newtownaabbey venue for the Bandstand Marathon.
On 9th September 2012 from 1pm – 5pm at Jordanstown Loughshore Park will be bursting with live music and entertainment for all the family. ‘Superact’ and ‘Making Music’ will bring a fresh, bright and exciting four-hour Bandstand Marathon event.
Jenni Coulter, the Council’s Business Development Officer (Arts & Culture) commented:
"It is great that Newtownabbey is going to be part of this nationwide day of musical celebration. 9th September is the final day of the Paralympic Games and the Bandstand Marathon will be a great way to mark the close of the Olympic competitions and the fantastic feast of 2012 sport that we have enjoyed.”
Nationally LOGOG are encouraging participation across the UK. Seb Coe, Chair of the London Organising Committee of the Olympic Games and Paralympic Games said:
"The Bandstand Marathon is encouraging local music groups to fulfil their potential. I am proud that with the help of partners such as ‘Superact’ we are delivering our vision to use the power of the Olympic Games and Paralympic Games to boost participation in creating a cultural legacy post-London 2012.
