Joining Peppa Pig and Woody at the launch of ‘Brighter Nights’ are The Mayor and Mayoress, Cllr Mark Cosgrove, Cllr Noreen McClelland, Cllr Marie Mackessy, and Cllr Gerard Reilly with his grandchildren and Cara and Fion O’Doherty.

With the school holidays just around the corner Newtownabbey Borough Council is delighted to announce the arrival of ‘Brighter Nights’.  Bringing light and laughter into the Lilian Bland Park Glengormley every Friday evening 7-9pm from 22 June until 31 August, ‘Brighter Nights’ will offer a range of fun activities for all the family.  It will be a chance to make the most of the long summer evenings and get that Friday feeling, even if the sunshine is in short supply!

The project is supported by the European Union Peace III programme, managed by the Special EU programmes Body and delivered by the CAN Peace III Partnership. ‘Brighter Nights’ was launched recently at the Uptown Hoedown, also in Glengormley. The activity programme has a range of themes for each Friday from dance, arts, play, and of course, as it’s 2012 there will even be Olympic themed sessions in July and August!

The Council’s Leisure and Culture Development Manager, Ursula Fay said:

“Brighter Nights aims to give the entire Glengormley community free Friday family fun throughout summer by offering a varied programme of activities and events with everything from Zumba, Wildlife Displays, Magic Shows to Street Theatre and Arts! Every generation will be catered for and we want to see the Lilian Bland Community Park alive with laughter on Friday nights for all the family to enjoy the long summer evenings come rain, hail or shine.”
