As part of Bee Safe week, staff from Newtownabbey Borough Council teamed up with Carnmoney Cycles to encourage Year 7 pupils from primary schools in the Borough to get on their bike!

Bee Safe Week, held annually at Ballyearl Leisure Centre, taught the pupils the benefits that cycling has on both their health and the environment while also instilling the  importance of bike safety through wearing helmets and following the rules of the road. Throughout the sessions, pupils were made aware of the Borough’s cycle paths and facilities and were also given guidance on bike maintenance. Those who attended have been entered into a prize draw to win vouchers for Carnmoney Cycles, funded by Newtownabbey Borough Council and Travelwise NI.

Wendy Brolly, Principal Environmental Officer said:

“I would like to express my thanks to staff from Carnmoney Cycles, who gave up their time to come along to Bee Safe for the week to promote this important safety message”.
