The Mossley Mill Community Heritage Project has got off to a great start. The recent ‘Flat Pack Veg’ workshop had participants ready determined to grow their own. Each participant created, planted and took home a mini vegetable patch – to ensure that the determination continued after the workshop ended!
This is the first of a series of workshops, talks and family activity days to be held at Mossley Mill which aims to enable the community to learn more about local heritage – both built and natural – funded by the Heritage Lottery Fund.
The next event is on Saturday 26th May (12pm – 3pm) and will be a family activity day exploring the Mill museum and its adjacent woodland and wetland habitats. Join in the nature trail of the Mill woodland, take part in the Mossley Mill Treasure Hunt, and try out some traditional wood based and textile crafts such as patch work and willow weaving.
This will be followed by Elderflower Champagne Workshop (10am – 1pm on Wed 13th June – £5 - booking required). Learn how to identify elderflowers and make delicious and refreshing drinks from this beautiful and common shrub. Make and take home your own Elderflower drink!
Put these dates in your diary and book your place. For more information on any events or to book a place on the workshops please contact Lindsay Matthews on 028 90340069 or Email: lmatthews@newtownabbey.gov.uk.
