Newtownabbey Women’s Group recently celebrated their 20th Anniversary with a reception in Mossley Mill. Members past and present attended the event which turned out to be a very successful evening.
Wilma Lennox, Development Officer with Newtownabbey Women’s Group commented:
‘We have seen many changes over the years, but the aims of the group have always remained the same – to provide support and opportunities for women and their families. We have done this in the fullest sense of these words. The friendships and genuine caring that has grown over the years has ensured that every woman is supported, whatever their needs are – from the sad occasions of bereavement through to helping find employment or training opportunities.
The most important element and probably the key to the success of the group is that whatever we are doing we like to enjoy ourselves and have fun! This can make such a difference to women when they are struggling with difficulties in other parts of their lives.’
Tributes and votes of thanks were paid to the group by Alderman William DeCourcy, Jonathan Henderson, Community Services Officer and Kathy Wolff, Co-ordinator of the Newtownabbey Community Relations Forum.
