The Mayor, Alderman Paula Bradley hosted her Christmas dinner on Friday 3 December in Mossley Mill. The theme for the event was ’Unsung Heroes’. The guests included ancillary and non teaching staff from schools across the Borough. Each school had been invited to nominate two staff to attend.
The guests from the schools were joined by Council member, Freemen of the Borough and the Mayor’s Charities. Mrs Joan Christie OBE HM Lord Lieutenant of County Antrim was one of the top table guests and thanked the Council on behalf of the guests for hosting the event.
With the wintry backdrop Mossley Mill looked stunning in the snow. The new Museum at The Mill was the venue for the drinks reception with guests arriving via the Civic Square and being greeted by the Snow Queen as they arrived. During the drinks reception the guests enjoyed music from Steve McCullough and from brother and sister duo Joshua and Sheree Carr. Both acts had won prizes in the Ballyclare Busking Bonanza in September.
Around £500 was raised for the charities on the evening by donations from guests.
This year the Mayor has chosen to support Allergy NI, Northern Ireland Dyslexia Association and Sandes.
