The Mayor Alderman John Scott joins Vikki Dundas, one of the 2008 Volunteer Accolade winners, to launch the Good Neighbour Of The Year category.

Do you have a neighbour who goes above and beyond the call of duty to help you or another neighbour out? As part of the Newtownabbey Volunteer Accolades 2010, Newtownabbey Borough Council are seeking nominations for the ‘Good Neighbour of the Year’ category.

Perhaps your neighbour helps you with transport, caring, the shopping or even just calls in for a chat and a nice cup of tea. It’s possible that this person doesn’t realise that they are volunteering their time to help you out but without their help your life would be much more difficult. This would be a great way to show that you really appreciate their time.

There are also eight other volunteer categories, which cover young people, adult, senior citizens and groups within the Borough and also include activities in arts and heritage, sport and good relations.

Nominations for the Good Neighbour of the Year Category must be received by 4.00pm on Wednesday 30 June 2010 at 4pm.

Further details are included in nomination packs, available from Council Offices and leisure centres. To have one mailed out, telephone 028 9034 0060. Forms can also be downloaded from www.newtownabbey.gov.uk/community/volunteer.asp
