CCTV for Glengormley Town Centre

The Newtownabbey Community Safety Partnership has secured funding from the Northern Ireland Office/Community Safety Unit towards CCTV in Glengormley Town Centre. It is envisaged that the introduction of CCTV will contribute to a reduction in certain types of crime eg. property related crime. In relation to other types of crime eg. Offences v Person the value of CCTV lies in co-ordinating a swift police response and collecting evidence to facilitate prosecution. It is envisaged that the system will be operational by Spring 2005. The proposed camera sites are:

  1. Antrim Road/Farmley Road junction.
  2. Antrim Road/Hightown Road junction.
  3. Antrim Road adjacent to the Olivia Centre.
  4. Carnmoney Road/Portland Avenue.
  5. Farmley Car Park adjacent to Movie House.
  6. Church Road/Farrier Court junction.

In addition the CSP has submitted two further applications for town centre CCTV systems in Ballyclare and Whiteabbey.
