Heritage Grants (Groups)
We will consider applications for grant aid from voluntary groups who wish to undertake a project related to the heritage of Newtownabbey Borough.
Types of Grants
- Documentation and archival projects for collections of historic interest, related to the Borough, which make these collections more accessible to the public.
- Research projects that contribute to increased public understanding and awareness of the local history and heritage.
- Exhibitions on local history that increase understanding, across the Borough, of the history of that area.
- Workshops, events, talks and seminars aimed at promoting understanding and encouraging discussion about the heritage of the Borough and the communities living within it.
- Publications relating to local history and heritage.
- Signs and design features in public outdoor spaces that identify features of local history, subject to appropriate permission (£200 maximum grant).
- Initiatives created to raise awareness of the importance of protecting the Borough’s heritage.
Conditions
- We will only award one grant to any group in each financial year (1 April to 31 March).
- We will treat incomplete or unreadable applications as ineligible and return them to you.
- The project or event you have made the application for must not be for personal financial gain.
- How much grant aid we offer will depend on the funding we have available.
- Our support should be acknowledged in all publicity material relating to the event or project.
- Events must be widely advertised and open to the public.
- Your organisation or group must arrange to have suitable insurance or public liability cover in place for all events we fund.
- We will only accept applications on official application forms, which you can get from the Museums and Heritage Officer at the address below or by downloading the pdf application form.
General Information
- We will acknowledge all applications for grant aid, in writing, within 10 working days of receipt.
- Applications may be deferred if we need further information.
- We will not consider a claim that your application was lost or delayed in the post, unless you have proof of posting.
