Dog Control
We aim, through a combination of education and enforcement to promote responsible dog ownership throughout the Borough.
What We Do
- Investigate complaints regarding straying dogs and impound those found straying.
- Investigate complaints of dog attacks on people and livestock.
- Aim to ensure that all dogs kept within the Borough are licensed.
- Inspect and licence all dog breeding establishments.
- Investigate complaints relating to dangerous ’dogs’.
- Investigate complaints relating to dog fouling.
- Provide an out-of-hours service at weekends and on public holidays for the collection of stray dogs.
- Provide and maintain dog waste bins throughout the Borough and remove dog waste from affected public areas.
- Issue penalty notices or, where appropriate, prosecute individuals who breach relevant legislation.
