Social Development Minister Margaret Ritchie recently launched Newtownabbey Borough Council’s Volunteer Accolades scheme, which is open for nominations until 30 June 2008.

 

The minister said, “The Volunteer Accolades scheme is a wonderful opportunity for the people of Newtownabbey borough to acknowledge the local volunteers who have made a difference in their lives. I would urge people to make their nominations and help give their volunteers the recognition they deserve.”

 

There is still time to enter nominations but be sure to pick up an application pack now as submissions close at the end of June. There are eight categories; Youth Volunteer of the Year, Senior Volunteer of the Year, Good Neighbour of the Year, Arts and Heritage in the Community Volunteer of the Year, Sport in the Community Volunteer of the Year, Good Relations Volunteer of the Year, University of Ulster Volunteer of the Year, Community Volunteers of the Year (Group Category).

 

Further details are included in nomination packs, available from Council Offices and leisure centres. To have one mailed out, telephone 028 9034 0208. Forms can also be downloaded below. The deadline for submitting nomination forms is Monday 30 June 2008 at 4pm.
