Merville Newtownabbey Photographic Club
Thursday 18 September 2014 - Saturday 18 October 2014
This exhibition showcases the work of the club through a selection of photographic prints. Members’ varied interests and abilities are illustrated through a range of subjects including landscape, portrait and the natural world. This photographic club is over fifty years old and provides an outlet for local photographers, many displaying work of international standard.
The club meets in Merville House, Newtownabbey, on Thursday evenings at 8.00pm from September to June and is always pleased to invite along anyone with an interest in photography. Both beginner and advances photographers are welcome to its lively meetings which include visual presentations, competitions and workshops.
LEST WE FORGET…
By Lise McGreevy - Photojournalist & Visual Artist
Lise attended the WW1 Centenary Remembrance Service at the City Hall on the 4th August, which was organised by the Northern Ireland First World War Centenary Committee and Belfast city councillors.
It was a very moving and touching ceremony, where hundreds of members of the public turned up to participate in remembering the fallen on this momentous occasion. As a people photographer, Lise decided to stay behind the scenes at the event, taking images of people at ground level who were working at the city hall that special day or had given up their time to come and pay their respects and commemorate.
Lise’s work will be displayed in Museum at The Mill until Saturday 27 September 2014.
