Congratulatory Messages

Background intro

Arlene Foster MLA

At this historic time for Newtownabbey Borough Council, I would like to express my heartfelt congratulations to Newtownabbey on reaching its 50th Anniversary. It is important for our society to take the time to celebrate these special milestones in our communities; in villages, towns and cities alike.

The Council should be commended for the manner in which it has served its residents over the past 50 years. This has been particularly evident in how it has developed its strategic location at the heart of the local business community and in its efforts to expand Newtownabbey’s strong service sector and retail base. The Council has shown an admirable commitment to the realisation of a highly skilled and flexible workforce and continues to take a lead role in supporting the local farming community, as well as promoting the tourist gateway to the Glens of Antrim and Antrim Coast.

Please accept my sincere congratulations on your anniversary and best wishes for the next 50 years.

Arlene Foster MLA,

Minister of the Environment

With great pleasure I have taken note of 50th anniversary of Newtownabbey Borough Council. On this occasion on behalf of Rybnik inhabitants and the City Authorities I have the privilege to offer my congratulations. For all the people of Newtownabbey I am sending my warm greetings and wishes of continuous optimism, enthusiasm and further great successes in developing your “little homeland”.

I am very pleased with 50th anniversary of your Council especially having in mind the fact that Newtownabbey is one of Rybnik’s twin cities. I hope that co-operation between our cities will consolidate thanks to joint initiatives and this will bring our inhabitants a lot of satisfaction and happiness.

Congratulations to Newtownabbey, the Borough Council, and the Mayor and Mayoress on your 50th anniversary. Like many Americans, my mother's family came from Ireland, and I have always felt a special bond to your land and your people. I am looking forward to extending my congratulations in person at your May Fair events. Additionally, a small contingent of rodeo cowboys, rodeo princesses, working ranchers, and councilors will be joining me to help you celebrate this great event.

Steven M. Berman,

Mayor of Gilbert, Arizona

Citizens as well as the Council and the City Hall of Dorsten congratulate our Twin Town on its 50th anniversary.

May the long-lasting good connections of the citizens of our towns make an impression on the constant coalescence of a united Europe.

Our special greeting is meant for all citizens of our two towns who animated our town twinning by their engagement for so many years.

The project orientated co-operation of our two towns and gives important new impulses for the involvement of young people and thus for the future of our partnership.

We are looking forward to the events coming up on which we will celebrate together the anniversary of Newtownabbey.

I send Newtownabbey and its citizens my best wishes for a further successful and peaceful development.

Lambert Lütkenhorst,

Mayor of Dorsten
